Trudi Fletcher – CamperKing Ambassador

Meet Trudi, who has been an avid supporter of the VW brand since a young age. Trudi purchased her Monte Carlo CamperKing conversion in 2019 after having a positive hire experience with a CamperKing campervan. Unfortunately, after purchasing her campervan, Trudi was diagnosed with breast cancer but found that ‘vanlife’ itself gave her calm despite all the turmoil she was trying to deal with. Now, Trudi and her partner, Darren, are living their best vanlife, and barely need an excuse to jump in it and go somewhere.

The couple have named their CamperKing campervan ‘Mr Banner’ in reference to the Hulk character from the Marvel universe, an image of which now adorns the campervan’s bonnet. They use Mr Banner for more than camping, also making use of the available space and payload to deliver much-needed supplies to their local food bank and local Ukrainian support hub. They were humbled to have taken part in a VW transporter convoy of over 100 campervans that took presents to a local children’s cancer hospital in Southampton. They have proudly displayed Mr Banner at many events, but more recently their CamperKing campervan was on display at The British Motor Show held at Farnborough Airport. They were also lucky enough to win the ‘People’s Choice’ award at Simply VW Beaulieu, Hampshire in 2021 and ‘Best Watercooled at VW Chill Beaulieu in 2022.

Trudi and Darren love the versatility of the campervan as it allows them to explore new locations in a variety of weather conditions and get out in the fresh air. The couple and their beloved Westie, Ursa, absolutely love being out in Mr Banner. It means their beloved pet can come along with them when they go away, rather than have to be boarded in kennels.

The couple found they enjoyed camping more than they expected, having been to mainly southern parts of the UK including Lizard Point, Cornwall but also having travelled to Edinburgh, Scotland and the Elan Valley in Wales. Their preferred go-to camping destination is the New Forest, due to its sheer beauty.
